A bit about me

I'm Naomi. I'm a qualified counsellor with a Foundation Degree in Humanistic Counselling.
My training is in Transactional Analysis, a model that explores the way we interact with others and how this is linked to our past experiences and beliefs. It is a collaborative method that reinforces the idea that everyone is valuable and has the capacity for positive change and growth.
I am passionate about helping people regain a sense of okay-ness through a gentle exploration of what aspects of life are difficult and why.
I am led by the needs of the individual and draw on other modalities of therapy; applying ideas and resources that are best suited to each person.
Counselling is about listening to the individual. Really listening, so that they feel heard and understood. I believe this is the start of helping someone discover and develop their own abilities.
I am registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and work within its ethical guidelines.
I work with adults and young people (16+) in Winchester and Portsmouth, Hampshire as well as remotely across the UK.
In my spare time, I work as a volunteer counsellor for a charity and as a befriender to older adults facing loneliness and isolation. I walk everyday and recognise that I gain a lot from being outside and in nature. The natural world lends itself wonderfully to many aspects of the human experience and I enjoy using what I see in nature as illustrations in my work.
Outdoor sessions are an opportunity to see this first hand and a brilliant environment for therapy.
